Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend  Next Entry
I have a bunch of drawings that I scanned last week with the intention of posting, but things have been a little hectic and I haven't had a chance to colour/post them. Looks like things might continue that way for a few days, so here's something in between -- a little comic that I wrote earlier in the winter when it was lung-hurtingly cold out that I just added images to yesterday:

And also: I just turned in the final cut 16mm version of my film! I am done! I still have some tweaks and such that I will make to the digital version that I'll put online next month, but the bulk of it, and my requirements for the OMF program, are done with! Hooray!

I want to show it to you NOW! But I want it to be good when you see it, so it'll be a little while yet. But yes! Thanks for the call, you are a darling!

Congratulations on completing the film!

I like the comic; it flows really nicely. You wrote and lettered it and then added the drawings later? That's pretty cool, it works!

Thanks! And yeah, originally I had some things sketched in, people and crowds and a bridge and a swing, but it really wasn't working for me, so I did three rounds of scrapped thumbnails and then just went with plastic bags in trees.

The final argument in favor of thumbnailing that I need to hear in order to change my freestylin' ways.

It can totally go the other way too, though -- I'm trying to design a print and I've done like 20 different horrible thumbnails....if I had just started drawing SOMETHING that wasn't a throwaway thumbnail I'd probably have a decent design by now.

Yeah! Bite the bullet already!

I don't think I've planned any project that extensively; it's just that I've learned long ago that if I have thumbnails, I have a comic. If I don't have thumbnails, I have no comic. Or at the least a meandering mess that takes months and months to struggle through (and the kicker is that these always get left unfinished as well).

I will act like a professional until it comes true!

I hope to have a version up online sometime in the next month! It's definitely not a perfect piece, but I'm happy with it for what it is.
