There are beautiful green trees all around whose leaves seem to double in magnificence each day! The market is full of asparagus and fiddleheads and leeks and small verdant delights. I am working a lot at dayjobs and am full of terrible drawings, but I am trying to get them out of my system, so here are some of the less awful doodly ones:|
Yup, still obsessed with those Piccard folks.
Curly-haired ladies from a movie I watched the other night.
Also, I went to TCAF the other weekend! It was a really great experience and I'd love to go again sometime. I met so many amazing people and have a bunch of photos that I need to post but don't have time to sort through as of yet. Special thanks to roomies Jordyn and Tim; we lived together in a fancy hotel LIKE KINGS! I was also very pleased to finally get to meet Rosemary and Craig and Zack and Jordan and Yien and Troy and Brenda and Jeff and Stephanie and Dave and Raina and Phil and many others, whom I will properly link to in a decent post soon. There was also a great Halifax contingent, and I got to see some people I haven't seen in a very long time. So many lovely folks. What an incredible festival!
And speaking of fairs, I'll be at the Crowd Control Sound & Art Fair, which is May 29th, 11:30am-4:30pm at the Bus Stop Theatre. I shall be selling my wares there, including a bunch of new comics and buttons that I made for TCAF. Sweet! (Also I will post about those items soon and provide a way for online people to purchase such things).
I love that first drawing and the text! Especially the text! <3
thanks a bunch! I would like to get better at text, right now I just paint text out but I really want to start working on my lettering.
I think you're on the right track! :)
He is an amazing guy! There's a bunch about him on Wikipedia. The Piccards are a french family who are famous for their inventions and explorations. Jacques' father, Auguste, was the inspiration for Professor Calculus of Tintin! Auguste was really into building balloons and flying up super high, Jacques was more into the underwater stuff, and there are other awesome members of the family as well, like Auguste's brother Jean Felix and his wife Jeannette who were balloonists as well -- Auguste's grandson Bertrand is also a balloonist. Basically they are super awesome and pioneered all kinds of things, like Jacques being one of the people to go to the lowest depths of the ocean
. Also, Jean-Luc Picard is named after their family. SWEET!
Additionally, the trip he made that the text up there is talking about was pretty amazing....floating along the gulf stream for a month in a tiny vessel with a crew of six and everyone got sick and was miserable but it was also an incredible trip -- and it happened at the same time as the first moon launch so no one cared.
I like those ladies! I like you, lady!
I like YOU! Let's draw ladies together, okay?
Getting to hang out with you again was one of my favorite things about TCAF. Let's do it again soon!
I agree! More hanging out will definitely have to commence soon.
